Jaipal calls meet to unite TS Opposition

Former Union minister and senior Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy said the party would hold a meeting at Jedcherla, Mahbubnagar district, on December 20 which would begin the effort to unite all sections opposed to the TRS and the state government.

He said the TRS government had caused immense pain and agony to true Telanganites, who had been betrayed for the last four years,

Mr Jaipal Reddy, in a statement issued from Delhi, said the TRS government had not fulfilled any of its promises because of which several sections of society, especially youth and unemployed.

He said there has been attempt by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to divide society on caste lines in the name of announcing sops. In reality there was no law and order in the state, political corruption had touched new heights and Mr Rao had himself encouraged mass defections from opposition parties, Mr Jaipal Reddy alleged.

He said without doing much to boost development or welfare, the TRS government was not addressing any genuine grievance of the people. He accused the TRS government of being anti-democratic and anti-people and said the time had come for the affected sections to fight by participating in large numbers at the Jedcherla meeting.

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy in a statement said that the outcome of the Gujarat Assembly elections was a clear indication that the Congress was on its way back to power across the country.

He said that AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s next focus would be on Telangana state. The TPCC would would strengthen its organisation and network across the state to ensure that it returns to power in 2019.

Mr Jaipal Reddy said the Congress would soon formulate a strategy to win the polls, both at the Centre and in the state.
