Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments for the second day on Monday as the main Opposition Congress protested over comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against former prime minister Manmohan Singh. They trooped into the well in both the houses raising slogans against Mr Modi and sought his apology.

After repeated adjournments, both the houses were adjourned for the day.

While Rajya Sabha could not transact any business, the Government managed to introduce five bills amid the din in Lok Sabha, most notable being the Indian Forest (Amendment) Bill and the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, among others.

Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned amid Congress protests over insinuations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against his predecessor Manmohan Singh.

The House was first adjourned shortly after it convened for the day. When it reconvened at 12 pm, members from the Congress and the Left parties trooped into the Well.

While Congress MPs sought Mr Modi’s apology over his remarks on Dr Singh made during the election campaigning in Gujarat, Left parties MPs too were seen raising certain issues pertaining to Kerala.

Amid the uproar by the Opposition, five Bills were introduced after the papers listed for the day were laid.

Finally Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day amid all the pandemonium.

In Rajya Sabha too, Congress members disrupted proceedings on the same issue related to Prime Minister's comments on Dr Manmohan Singh, forcing the adjournment of the House without transacting any legislative business.
