Uppal plots’ online registration in limbo

-

Due to lack of co-ordination between National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the online registration of Uppal Bhagat plots will be delayed further. Even though the plots were distributed in April, the HMDA is yet to register them in the name of the farmers who lost land under the Musi conservation and riverfront development project. The HMDA has registered 105 plots out of 1,410.

According to sources, HMDA officials and brokers have been delaying the plot distribution to purchase them at a cheaper rate later. To curb irregularities, the state government has decided to go for the online registration of plots. It has asked NIC to maintain the servers. However, HMDA officials have been putting pokes into the government’s efforts and plan to go for the offline registration.

About this, a senior HMDA official, on condition of anonymity, said that due to a technical problem with the NIC servers, the HMDA could not make the online registration for the first five days. He said that the HMDA started the online registration of the Uppal Bhagat plots from November 30. To speed up the registration process the HMDA will now go for the offline registration which will help clear 100 files per day.

The HMDA official said that 1,410 plots have been distributed to farmers, and noted that 200 plots are facing legal issues.
