RELIEF FOR NITIN, FAMILY IN ‘AKHIL’ RIGHTS CASE

-

The Hyderabad High Court on Monday granted respite to film actor Nitin, his father and film producer Sudhakar Reddy and his sister Nikhita Reddy, quashing criminal proceedings initiated by Cyberabad second additional junior civil judge cum 20th metropolitan magistrate court on the complaint of film distributor G. Satyanarayana.

The producer had lodged a complaint with the lower court on September 23, 2017, alleging that the trio had cheated him without giving exhibition rights for the movie Akhil after collecting `50 lakh from him.

He listed Sreshta Movies as accused No. 1, its owner, Mr Sudhakar Reddy, as accused No. 2 followed by the actor and his sister. The lower court took cognisance of the complaint and issued summons to the trio.

Aggrieved by this, the family moved two separate petitions seeking to quash the proceedings.

Their counsel told the High Court that the lower court had erred in taking cognisance of the case without verifying whether Nitin and his sister were partners of Sreshta Movies or not.

He said that Nitin and his sister were at all partners and the complaint had intentionally foisted the case against the children of Mr Sudhakar Reddy.

He said the case related cheque bounced and was a civil and not a criminal matter.

Considering the arguments, Justice M. Satyanarayana Murthy quashed the case pending before the lower court.
