TRUMP’S ‘FAKE NEWS AWARDS’ POSTPONED

TRUMP ALLIES DEFEND HIM AGAINST BOOK’S CLAIMS

-

Washington, Jan. 8: US President Donald Trump on Monday postponed his much-talked about ‘Fake News Awards’ to the mainstream media for “dishonesty and bad reporting” to January 17.

The awards ceremony was supposed to be held on Monday.

Trump upon his return from the presidential retreat of Camp David tweeted about the new date of the “one-of-itskind” awards to various media houses.

“The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday,” he tweeted. “The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!” he said.

— Agencies Washington, Jan. 8: Trump administration officials and allies are rallying to the president’s defense, trying to contain the fallout from an explosive new book that questions Trump’s fitness for office.

Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House portrays the 45th president as a leader who doesn’t understand the weight of his office and whose competence is questioned by aides.

Chief policy adviser Stephen Miller says the picture “is so contrary to reality” and calls the book “trash.”

Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon is also trying to make amends for comments that appeared in the book.

He issued a statement praising the president's eldest son and says he regrets not having released it sooner. -PTI
