State eases tender norms for ULBs
Relaxing existing orders, the TS government gave more financial powers to urban local bodies (ULBs) to take up works in municipalities. Now ULBs have the freedom to take up works of up to `50 lakh on their own without seeking the government’s clearance.
Recently, the state government issued orders related to tender procedures. It has set certain criteria and bid capacity for contractors to participate in tenders for works costing `50 lakh and above. The contractors need to have the experience necessary for execution of the task, liquid assets, credit facilities and a bid capacity.
Bids of contractors who fulfilled the conditions are opened. For the works costing below `50 lakh, contractors with valid registration in the respective class or category are eligible to participate in the tenders.
TS, relaxing the existing order, has now authorised the GHMC commissioner to implement the tender procedure after looking at the bid capacity with respect of works costing between `5 lakh and `50 lakh. The government has decided to implement the same procedure in all urban local bodies also.
FOR THE works costing below `50 lakh, contractors with valid registration in the respective class or category are eligible to participate in tenders.
