MP Schools in shambles, designer dress for gurus

Even as Madhya Pradesh received a dubious distinction of running 574 primary schools with a “single teacher” and the government admitted that over one lakh schools in the BJPruled state have no electricity, the state education ministry decided to go for a compulsory dress code for the teachers.

An order coming from the state’s education ministry, says that all government teachers will have to wear jackets, designed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (Nift), with a nameplate saying Rashtra Nirmata.

Speaking to a news channel on Saturday, state education minister Vijay Shah said the logic behind this decision was because teachers “should feel they are doing a great job” and can be identified as government teachers.

It may be recalled that responding to a question in the Assembly last eyar, the Chief Minister had acknowledged that “there are still more than one lakh schools that do not have power.”

The state education minister speaking on the dress code observed that the jackets were being designed as the “teachers can be identified and feel they are doing a great job.”

The dress code order will come into effect from the next academic year.

As controversy continues to rage over the dismal condition of the school buildings and infrastructure, the state government in it’s bid to make the education system “better” introduced smileys for grading students a few weeks ago.

Smileys will be given as per the efficiency and the ability of children.

For example, kids who are still in the process of learning will be given two smileys.

Earlier, the state education minister had also issued a diktat asking students to respond to their roll calls in ‘Jai Hind’ instead of ‘present sir/madam’.
