WHAT IS A TROLL

■ IT IS A deliberate attempt online to provoke inflammatory, offensive, or provocative comments, with an intension to upset their targets. But ‘all angry posters and commenters are trolls.

STEPS TO DEAL WITH TROLLS

■ BASED ON the intensity of the abuse, a person can either complaint to the cyber crime experts.

■ PSYCHOLOGIST advise at times to ignore the troller as they are desperate for defensiveness . Or to respond with facts or humour to diffuse the situation.

HOW TO REPORT VIOLENCE ON TWITTER

■ ONE CAN report directly from an individual Tweet or profile for certain violations, including: spam, abusive or harmful content, inappropriate ads, self-harm and impersonation. ■ OPEN THE profile you’d like to report and select the overflow icon (via twitter.com and Twitter for Android) or tap the gear icon (from Twitter for iOS) and select report and then select the type of issue you’d like to report. ■ IF THEY’RE being abusive, you will be asked to provide additional information about the issue. ■ YOU MAY ALSO be asked to select additional Tweets from the account you’re reporting so that Twitter can have better context to evaluate the report.
