Water bottles thrown at home minister

Home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy, who was in Warangal to attend the Kakatiya Redla Shankaravam on Sunday, had an unpleasant experience when people began throwing water bottles at him during his speech.

The public meeting was organised by the Telangana Reddy Associations JAC at the Kakatiya University Arts and Science College ground to press for the implementation of welfare measures for the community.

Mr Narasimha Reddy, during his speech, addressed the issue of reservations for poorer sections of the community and said that such a facility could not be provided as it would be unconstitutional and because it was not a matter to be decided by the state government.

His comments provoked an uproar from the audience, and some of the more agitated people began throwing water bottles towards the stage. However, the bottles did not reach the minister; they landed a few feet away from the dais.
