All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) spokesperson Maulana Khalilur Rahman Sajjad Noumani clarified that his remarks of visiting the RSS camps were taken out of context.

Expelled board member Maulana Salman Nadvi had three days ago accused Maulana Naumani of visiting RSS camps and meeting its leaders. Maulana Nadvi came out with this charge after he was removed from the board over his Ayodhya proposal.

Maulana Noumani said about the video released that his statements were taken out of context to label him a friend and agent of RSS.

He visited RSS camps and personally knew some RSS leaders. He pointed out that during riots over Babri MasjidRam Janmbhoomi issue in 1990 when Lucknow was under curfew, he had risked his life to reach a hospital to donate blood to an injured Hindu girl. The father of the girl, who was ‘pracharak’ of RSS and incharge of six to seven RSS ‘shakhas’, thanked him for saving the life of his only child.

The cleric said that on the invitation of the ‘pracharak’, he visited RSS camps and discussed with their cadre issues like how the country could be taken on the path of development and how peace and brotherhood could be ensured.

To prove his argument, he played a clip of his speech made in Aurangabad where he cited the example of RSS to advise Muslims to inculcate their good qualities like simplicity and avoid ostentatious marriages and wasteful expenditure.

Maulana Nomani said his Rohingya remarks were also in the same context. He said it was well known that organisations like Bajrang Dal distributed weapons among their cadre in various parts of the country to prepare for Myanmar-like massacres. “My remarks were not to provoke Muslims but to wake them from slumber,” he said.
