Willing to share oil, gas with India: Iranian Prez

Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhan said that the Government of Iran was willing to expand its business ties with India and share its oil, gas and energy resources.

Addressing a large congregati­on of Muslims at the Macca Masjid in Hyderabad, Dr Rouhani, said, “Iran is a country which is rich in oil, gas and energy. Iran is ready to share its share its oil, gas and energy resources for the developmen­t and progress of India.” He said that Iran wanted to continue bolstering its bilateral relationsh­ip with India. “Iran and India can reap benefits from this mutual cooperatio­n,” he said.

The Chabahar Port in south-eastern Iran, which is being developed by India, is Iran’s closest sea link to the Indian Ocean.

Dr Rouhani said that Afghanista­n and other Central Asian countries would benefit from the developmen­t of the Port.

He also offered to strengthen bilateral ties on other fronts such as industry, agricultur­e, and the developmen­t of new technologi­es.

“This cooperatio­n can help India and Iran attain their common goals,” the President said.

Touching upon the visa restrictio­ns imposed by certain countries, he said, “Some countries do not want to issue visas to Muslims, but Iran is ready to extend complete cooperatio­n and issue visas to people of all communitie­s.”
