4 women, 2 kids saved from drowning

The Hyderabad Lake Police rescued four women and two children from committing suicide in Hussain Sagar in different incidents reported on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the first incident, on Wednesday, at about 8.30 pm, a 25-year-old woman, identified as a private employee from Musheeraba­d came to the lake along with her two children to commit suicide. “She was rescued by the lake patrolling party and when asked, she revealed that her husband was an alcoholic and suspected her fidelity. He quarreled with her regularly and on Wednesday night he had come home drunk and had beaten her up. Unable to take the harassment, she wanted to end her life along with her children’s”, said the Police Inspector of Lake Police, Dhanalaxmi.

In the second incident, on Thursday, three persons were rescued. In the morning around 7.45 am, a 32-year-old woman from Rasoolpura was rescued. She informed the police that she was married and was blessed with two girl children. She was depressed over her ill health and wanted to kill herself. In yet another case, a 33-yearold woman from Musheeraba­d came to the lake to commit suicide after a fight with her neighbours over a petty issue. “In another case, around 1pm, a 21year-old woman from Gandhi Nagar who was depressed over family problems came to the lake with an intention to commit suicide” added the official.

These four incidents occurred in two days and the victims were counselled promptly and were safely handed over to their relatives.
