C.V. ANAND TO MOVE TO DELHI AS CISF I-G

Civil supplies commissioner and senior IPS officer C.V. Anand has moved to Central services on deputation. He will take charge as inspectorgeneral of Central Industrial Security Force for a tenure of five years.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued orders appointing Mr Anand as I-G of CISF and requested the state government to relieve him from his present posting.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao appointed Mr Anand as Civil Supplies Commissioner in August 2016. This post has been traditionally held by IAS officers. However, the department was riddled with corruption and irregularities in public distribution system causing huge financial loss to state exchequer on account of diversion of PDS rice and other essential commodities to the black market.

To check this, CM had appointed an IPS officer to head the department for the first time, which was strongly opposed by IAS officers initially. Mr. Anand brought several reforms in PDS in his 18month tenure and could save over `1,200 crore to state exchequer by forming special enforcement teams to carry raids on rice mills, ration shops indulging in diversion of PDS stocks.

Mr. Anand has been requesting the CM to relieve him from the post for long to meet the mandatory requirement of serving in the Central services for five years.

However, the CM kept the issue pending and finally had to approve it following the Centre’s directions.
