BTech student jumps off college building

-

A 21 year old BTech final year student, a native of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, committed suicide by jumping off her college hostel building in Banjara Hills on Saturday night.

Police said the girl, identified as Samadheen, a final year IT student of Narayanamma Engineering College, has been depressed for the past two months. She was also a certified migraine patient since childhood.

However, her parents, who reside in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, are claiming that it must have been an accidental death as there is no reason for her to commit suicide. They said she had even bagged a job in one of the biggest MNCs recently through a campus placement.

Samadheen studied in Andaman till her intermediate and had joined the college in Banjara Hills for her engineering course, said K. Srinivas, Police Inspector, Banjara Hills Police Station. "She stayed in the hostel accommodation provided by her college with four other girls. On Saturday night, she stepped out alone to check in her daily attendance at around 8:30 pm and did not return until 10 o'clock. The roommates started frantically calling her and even informed the hostel warden who started to search the entire premises. When they tried to reach her through her phone, it was busy and it was revealed later that she was on call with her parents back home around 9:30 pm" he said. When the girls of the hostel reached the terrace looking for her, they found her pair of slippers and mobile phone. When they went closer they saw her body lying n the ground below.

"Noticing that she was still breathing, the college management immediately rushed her to a nearby private hospital where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment on Sunday morning,” the official said.
