Creatures From Space?

-

AMARILLO (TEXAS),

FEB. 26. A 29-year-old farmer here undertook a voluntary lie detection test to confirm his story that he met creatures from space.

A preliminary report on the test is believed to have indicated that he is telling the truth.

The lie test was the idea of Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Chairman of the Astronomy Department at Northwestern University and Adviser to the Air Force Blue Book, which handles sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOS).

After examining some of Watts’ pictures, Dr. Hynek concluded, “if this is a hoax, it is a very, very clever one. In fact, it would be such a clever hoax that it would be almost as interesting as what this farmer claimed has happened to him.”

A weird footnote to Watts’ tale was that an Air Force Lieutenant and Dr. Hynek himself had called him last Spring and Summer for clues to the disappearance of an Oklahoma airman.

Watts had claimed that the Lieutenant told him that the airman disappeared while investigating an unidentified radar blip and that a tiny tracking transmitter strapped above the airman’s knee had been found in a Louisiana swamp, days later, still beeping.

While Mr Wyne charter his reactions, Watts displayed and examined the series of black-andwhite and colour polaroid photographs which the farmer said confirms his experiences.
