871 SWINE FLU CASES IN RAJASTHAN

Kalyan Singh, the governor of Rajasthan, was misdiagnosed as suffering from swine flu on the basis of symptoms such as a high fever, cold and cough. Doctors at the Apollo Hospital in Delhi, upon conducting tests, found that he was he suffering from a viral fever, and not swine flu.

According to doctors at the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Hyderabad, treatment for swine flu can only begin after medical tests confirm that the patient is H1N1 positive. They say that it could have been suspected that Mr Kalyan Singh was suffering from the disease, and the suspicion may have wrongly been presented as a diagnosis.

The Integrated Disease Surveillance Program in its report dated February 11 has stated that 871 cases of swine flu were recorded in Rajasthan in January and February 2018, 578 of which were in Jaipur alone. In December 2017, 400 cases were recorded in Rajasthan.

The government of Rajasthan has stated that it is prepared to handle the situation. Meanwhile, VVIP patients are being misdiagnosed on the basis of their symptoms.

Government doctors in Rajasthan recently tested 11 MLAs for swine flu, and one of them – Amrita Meghwal — tested positive.

TWO CASES of swine flu have been reported in Telangana so far this month.

BOTH PATIENTS are businessmen who recently travelled to Jaipur and Delhi respectively.
