Half-day schools from March 15

Hyderabad: The Telangana Education Department has declared half-days for schools from March 15 onwards, till the last working day of the academic year 2017-18. Primary schools, upper primary and high school of all managements, both government, aided and private managements, will function from 8 am. till 12.30 pm. only. The Commissioner of School Education has instructed all the District Education Officers (DEOs) in the state to issue orders on the implementation of halfdays in schools during summer and optional holidays for higher schools from March 15 onwards. In High schools, having SSC examination centres, the school timing will be from 1 pm to 5 pm. Optional holidays will be applicable for schools rather than individual teachers. The earlier practice of utilisation of optional holidays by the institutions shall be continued. The DEOs were instructed to communicate the orders to the schools and monitor the implementation of half-days.
