- DC CORRESPONDENT

Taking cognisance of reports published in this newspaper, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided to seek advice from the Telangana State Technology Services (TSTS) regarding the cancellation of the Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) for workers of its sanitation department.

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy held a teleconference and review meeting to discuss the matter on Monday. He instructed officials to rethink the proposal to cancel the AEBAS and told them to ask the state government for help.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Analogics Tech India Ltd, which has been maintaining the handheld PoSbased devices used for the AEBAS, was discussed at the review meeting. It was finalised that pending dues would be cleared after the PoS machines are updated by March 26.

These decisions were made after the publication of reports titled “GHMC to scrap Aadhaar-based attendance system” and “Civic body yet to pay dues to PoS agency” in the Deccan Chronicle on Monday.
