- DC CORRESPONDENT

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti has accused Congress MLAs of coming to the Legislative Council in an inebriated condition.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti has accused Congress MLAs of coming to the Legislative Council in an inebriated condition!

TRS whip in the Legislative Council, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, on Monday alleged that it was because some Congress MLAs were drunk that they resorted to physical attacks like throwing paper balls, headphones, and mikes at the Governor, Speaker and Council chairman on the opening day of the Budget Session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday. Mr Reddy demanded that they be arrested and criminal proceedings be initiated against them.

Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy rubbished the allegation and dared the government to conduct alcohol tests for all MLAs, including the Chief Minister, to detect who was drunk. He said his right knee was severely injured when he was attacked by police and marshals in the House, but he did not create a drama like the TRS. He said doctors had advised him to take an x-ray and visit hospital for treatment.

Mr Rajeshwar Reddy said, “One Congress MLA, who was drunk, lost his balance and fell on their leader Jana Reddy, who was seated. Irked by this, Jana Reddy left his seat and from the House. We can prove that some Congress MLAs were drunk and came to the House in an inebriated condition due to which they resorted to physical attacks.”

Mr Komatireddy countered with: “Everyone in the state knows who are drunkards. All know who consumes liquor every day in farm houses, Pragati Bhavan etc. If they have guts, they should be prepared for alcohol tests, including the CM in the Assembly. We 12 Congress MLAs are ready for any tests and give samples.”

Referring to the incident when earphones thrown by him hit the chairman of the House Swamy Goud, Mr Komatireddy added: “Everyone in the House has the right to protest. My target was the Governor, who was telling all lies in his speech. But, accidentally, it hit chairman Swamy Goud, who is a good friend of mine. Are TRS MPs, including Kavitha, not storming to the podium in Parliament every day? Were they being obstructed by marshals there? Here, KCR is behaving like a dictator and not allowing anyone to speak against the government.”
