Till 1st century BC: Ancient Greeks and Roman supported it Middle Ages: Christianity and Judaism condemn euthanasia. 17th & 18th centuries: Renaissance writers challenged the common law prohibiting euthanasia. Late 19th century: Use of Morphine as an analgesic became widespread. 19501969: Euthanasia societies of US and UK petitioned to the UN to include euthanasia in the Declaration of Human Rights.
