CANTONMENT READIES WATER PLAN FOR SUMMER
The Secunderabad Cantonment is ready with a summer action plan as water woes are round the corner and depletion of groundwater levels could see borewells in various colonies and bastis go dry for the next three months. The plan is expected to bring relief to people in eight wards.
According to water works superintendent M. Raj Kumar, the duration of supply of water would be increased by 15 to 20 minutes in areas where ground water has depleted substantially. Water is being supplied thrice a week for 45 minutes, depending on the pressure.
“Cantonment receives 65 lakh gallons daily from HMWSSB to meet its water needs. Areas will be divided into green zones (no water problem areas), orange zones (slight problems seen) and red zones (experiencing water woes in summer) and accordingly water supply will be increased,” he said.
Also, 300 water tankers would be making trips in different areas in eight wards, especially bastis and a few colonies to ensure the water needs of residents are taken care of.
