Another cop plays Good Samaritan

- ANUSHA PUPPALA | DC HYDERABAD, MARCH 14

THE COP not only pushed her car out of the way but also got her a mechanic and also organised a towing vehicle and instructed the driver of the towing vehicle to navigate her home.

Cops from Telangana state are known for their friendly policing. Traffic Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mr Venkat Reddy from Madhapur traffic police station set another example of friendly policing by helping a woman after her car broke down in a traffic jam in the city on Tuesday.

When Jubilee Hills resident Mrs Juhee Ahmed was driving in Madhapur area on Tuesday around 7.30 pm, her clutch failed and her car stalled in the middle of traffic during peak hours.

But immediately Mr Reddy who was nearby, with the help of other pedestrians, helped push her car out of the way.

After ensuring that her car was out of the mainstream, he got her a mechanic and also organised a towing vehicle and instructed the driver of the towing vehicle to navigate her home and asked her to inform him once she reached home safely.

Overwhelmed with the help extended by the cop, Mrs Juhee Ahmed, shared the incident on her Facebook page.

Speaking to DC she said, “It was really heartwarming that we still have such kind-hearted persons because people usually don’t stop to help. Initially he thought that I was violating traffic laws but later he realised that I was struggling with my car's breakdown. What was special was that he could have just taken me to the side of the road and left me, but he didn’t do that. He stayed with me while performing his traffic duties alongside at Madhapur Junction.”

She added, “Apart from pushing my car he also helped me by calling a mechanic and made me feel safe and gave an assurance that I was not alone.”

When asked, Mr Venkat Reddy said, “I was performing my duty. When I went near the car I found out that her clutch had failed. I helped push the car to the main road and called a mechanic along with a towing vehicle. It was late evening, so I thought it was my responsibility to help a lady but I don’t think I have done any great help. ”
