KCR to decide after Didi meet

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao will take a call on whether to support the no-confidence motion to be moved by the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress against the NDA government in the Lok Sabha, after meeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday.

Mr Rao along with senior TRS MPs K. Keshava Rao, A.P. Jithender Reddy, and chief adviser to government Rajiv Sharma, and other senior officials, will leave for Kolkata on a special flight on Monday. He is expected to discuss with his West Bengal counterpar­t the strategy to be adopted on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.

Sources in the Chief Minister’s office say the meeting is scheduled for 5 pm on Monday. He will return to Hyderabad by 7 pm on Monday.

He is also expected to discuss his attempts to forge an alternativ­e front of non-Congress, non-BJP parties at national level.

Ms Banerjee had been quick to respond positively to Mr Rao’s call for a third front on March 3, and hence this visit.

Mr Rao had also announced his intention of visiting Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other big cities to seek feedback and support of retired All India Service Officers and defence/army officers, national level associatio­ns of farmers and employees, experts on centre-state relations, and constituti­onal and legal experts.

Mr Rao plans to frame an agenda for his Front with prime focus on empowering states by transferri­ng powers from the Centre to States, except for national security, defence, banking, currency etc.
