4 die in different road mishaps

The Langar Houz police arrested the accused and registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC.

In another incident, a senior citizen died when a car hit her near Chandanaga­r on Monday.

“The victim was identified as B. Maisamma, 60, of Chandanaga­r was crossing the road when an I20 car hit her,” said Chandanaga­r police officials. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died while undergoing treatment, the officer added.

Chandanaga­r police arrested the accused and registered a case under Section 304(A) of the IPC.

Two others were also killed in separate accidents at Shamshabad and Hayathnaga­r. The deceased were identified as G. Shankar and Nagilla Srinivas.

According to the police, G. Shankar was working as an engineer at an MNC’s branch located at the RGI Airport. On Sunday night, he was heading back to his residence at Shamshabad, on his bike. While passing the ORR service road, he lost control over his bike and fell into a pit at the side of the road.

According to sources, the pit was around 10 feet wide and 12 feet deep and had no caution sign-boards.

In the other incident, Srinivas, a 22-year-old, working for a supermarke­t was killed while returning from Sanghi temple. Srinivas had gone to the temple along with his friends Vijay and Rajesh. While returning, an overspeedi­ng tipper hit their bike from behind. Srinivas died on the spot and Vijay received grievous injuries, while Rajesh escaped with minor bruises. Rachakonda police nabbed four people in different cases from Pahadishar­eef and Meerpet areas, including two brothers belonging to an interstate gang who were involved in a vehicle theft, and recovered huge quantity of gold from their possession.

The arrested were identified as B. Govind, 21, his younger brother B. Naidu, 20, and S. Srinivas Reddy, 33, all hailing from Visakhapat­nam and Mahesh, 28, from Jeedimetla.

According to the police, the trio would travel to the city to watch movies and while returning back, they would halt at random locations and commit thefts.

Govind and his brother are habitual offenders. Once in prison, they met Srinivas who was also arrested for thefts.

After being released from prison in this January, Srinivas started staying with the brothers.

DCP LB Nagar M. Venkateswa­r Rao said that the gangsters would travel in trains at night, alight at random stations to target locked houses in towns and decamp with gold jewellery and other valuables.

Govind was earlier arrested from Tirupati, Visakhapat­nam, Nellore, Begumpet and Medchal. After being released from prison, they were involved in 12 cases and committed offences in Rajamahend­ravaram, Meerpet, Gadwal, Kurnool and Pahadishar­eef.

During vehicle checking at Pahadishar­eef on Monday, the trio was found travelling in a car and on searching, gold jewellery and cash was found in their possession.

Gold jewellery, weighing 270 grams and silver articles worth `12.6 lakh was recovered from their possession.

In the second incident, Mahesh who was working as a cook and has been committing offences since 2007 when he was a minor was arrested from Meerpet.

All the arrested persons were produced before the court and remanded.
