Corruption shadow looms over GHMC

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Another case of corruption in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has come to light. GHMC officials changed the ownership of a resident in Kukatpally. The resident alleged that the corporation officials were hand in glove with the real estate agent who had arranged the change in ownership.

According to T. Narasaiah, who resides in H no. 4-41-68/1 in Papireddy Nagar in Kukatpally circle, he had constructed a house on a government plot for which he had received electricity connection in 1998, water connection in 2006, and was paying property tax since 2008.

He alleged that Kumari, a real estate agent had paid a `5 lakh bribe to corporation officials C. Shiva Kumar and Srikanth Reddy, to change the ownership of his property.

He said that in 2013, the matter had been brought to the notice of the then deputy commissioner B. Gangadhar Reddy, who later became the zonal commissioner and had retired recently.

Narasaiah said that even though several representations had been made to the civic body, the matter still remained unresolved.

The GHMC officials were unavailable for a comment.

The corporation officials have changed several ownerships in Rajendra Nagar, Serilingampally and the municipalities on the city outskirts.
