In December 2017, OU PG student E. Murali committed suicide due to depression from failing to get a government job. On March 6, physically challenged B. Mahender (30) hanged himself in his room at the Government hostel for differently-abled in Vanasthalipuram.

Juttukonda Karthik, hailing from Ketavarigudem village in Garidapalli mandal in Suryapet district, had completed graduation and moved to the city for preparing for entrance tests for government jobs.

He along with a few other boys from his district lived in a rented room at RN Reddy Nagar and together prepared for entrance exams.

On the occasion of Ugadi last week, all the roommates went to their hometown. While others stayed back, Karthik returned to the city on Saturday and was alone in the room since then preparing for exams.
