Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday adjourned the House sine die till April 2 as din continued. Yet another day passed with the Lok Sabha failing to take up the discussion on the no-confidence motion given by several Opposition members again-st BJP-led NDA government.

Before the House began, AIADMK members trooped into the well carrying placards and started raising slogans demanding constitution of Cauvery water management board. In a few seconds, the Speaker adjourned the House till noon.

The situation continued after the House resembled and the Speaker requested the AIADMK members to go to their seats who continued the protest in the well. The Congress, Left, TD and the YSRC members wanted the Speaker to take up discussion on the no-confidence motion.

Parliamentary Affairs minister Ananth Kumar said the government was ready to take up the discussion and blamed the Congress for the impasse. He said the Congress and other members on Tuesday brought the placards to display the number of members supporting the no-confidence motion and that was against to Parliamentary proceedings.

They carried placards to inform the Speaker about the ‘strength’ of members supporting the motion. He said the Opposition parties too were ready for discussion.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said she had received no-confidence notices from several members but she was not able to bring the notices as the House was not in order. She said that unless order was restored discussion could not be taken up and adjourned the House till April 2.
