Money there for roads: KTR
Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao has assured that the government would provide the required funds for monthly maintenance of roads before the onset of monsoon and asked the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials to initiate stringent action against contractors if they did not meet the expected standards of quality. Speaking at a review meeting held in HMWS&SB, KTR said that the corporation has already assigned executive engineers to every ward to supervise the laying of roads and repair works. He also asked to identify the water-logging points and provide a permanent solution prior to the monsoon. During the meeting, GHMC officials brought to notice that the corporation had already identified 181 water logging points and 346 vulnerable points during the last monsoon. KTR instructed zonal commissioners to supervise the road repairs and water-logging points to facilitate citizens. He asked them to prepare an action plan for monsoon road repairing works and to get started with them immediately. He also asked the GHMC to coordinate with the Metro corridors and the HRDC for better road maintenance. KTR asked corporation officials not go on leave for two months and pay full attention to the road repair works. He instructed the water board officials to take special care of manholes and other pipeline restoration works.
