AILING JAITLEY MAY UNDERGO KIDNEY SURGERY

New Delhi, April 5: Finance minister Arun Jaitley is suffering from a kidney ailment and may have to undergo a surgery, sources close to the minister said.

Jaitley, 65, was brought to AIIMS where he underwent diagnostic tests. Doctors indicated that it was a kidney-related ailment. A source at AIIMS said that the minister is likely to undergo kidney transplant and it is learnt that formalitie­s for a donor kidney have been completed. The minister, however, has not yet been hospitalis­ed but has been advised to avoid going out in public.

New Delhi, April 5: Finance minister Arun Jaitley is suffering from a kidney ailment and may have to undergo a surgery, sources close to the minister said.

Jaitley, 65, was brought to AIIMS where he underwent diagnostic tests. Doctors indicated that it was a kidney-related ailment.

A source at AIIMS said that the minister is likely to undergo kidney transplant and it is learnt that formalitie­s for a donor kidney have been completed.

Depending on doctors’ advice, he may be admitted to the cardio-neuro tower at AIIMS here. The centre is housed in a separate building and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

He is likely to be operated by nephrologi­st Dr Sandeep Guleria from Apollo hospital, also brother of AIIMS director Randeep Guleria, a family friend of Mr Jaitley.

The minister, however, has not yet been hospitalis­ed but has been advised to avoid going out in public for fear of catching infection.

He has not been attending office since Monday and even skipped taking oath after being re-elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh.
