Teen nabbed for bike thefts, 10 vehicles seized

care home, from where he was released in November 2017. After a short gap, he started committing bike thefts from different locations. He used false keys to open the lock and then would speed away with the bike.

He would keep the stolen bike with him for around three days and then dispose it for amounts starting from `2,000 to `5,000.

On Saturday morning, while moving a bike towards Madhapur from Borabanda, he was intercepte­d during vehicle checking. When he could not provide the documents, he was taken to the police station for inquiry.

"During inquiry, he admitted that he had committed ten bike thefts from the time he came out of the care home. He used a false key to steal them", said ACP Madhapur N Shyam Prasad Rao.

He was earlier sent to a care home but did not change after coming out and continued the same work. The ten cases included the ones at Madhapur, KPHB, Gachibowli, Sanath Nagar and SR Nagar. A second year intermedia­te student who failed in two subjects has tried to jump and commit suicide in the tank bund lake on Saturday afternoon. The lake police officials noticed her movements and averted the suicide.

The officials of Lake Police were strictly conducting regular checks around the necklace road area to avoid such acts by the students, police said, as it was results day and many children tend to take such extreme measures due to poor scoring.

The 20 year old student was studying in Vijaya Nagar Junior College and was a resident of New Mallepally in Hyderabad.

“The girl was about to jump into the Hussain Sagar lake at upper tank bund, opposite to Annamachar­ya statue when the patrolling police noticed were and was brought Lake Police Station” said the Police Inspector of Lake police, B. Dhana Laxmi.
