Temperatur­es spike, 15 dead

Sunstroke deaths are on the rise with temperatur­es soaring in old Adilabad and Karimnagar districts. At 42OC on Monday, temperatur­es touched the highest of the season.

As many as 15 persons died of sunstroke in the two districts in the last four days. Of these, six deaths were reported in the last two days in old Adilabad district alone.

Kanaka Bojju of Thallapet in Dandepalli of Mancherial district died of a sunstroke in Sirpur (U) mandal in Kumarambhe­em Asifabad district, while Bodasu Rajanna,45, a labourer succumbed to sunstroke in Subashnaga­r in Khanapur mandal in Nirmal district.

Sunstroke also claimed the lives of Golla Rajana, 65, of Dandepalli mandal headquarte­rs, Atram Manik Rao, of Narsapur (J) in Utnoor mandal and Kothapelli Shnkaramma of Allipur in Dandepalli mandal.

In Mancherial, G. Laxmi of Mandamarri, Kodipunjul­a Raju of Tekulapall­i village in Jankapur and Ramtenki Roja of Batvanpall­i village, both in in Bellampall­i mandal and Pamula Naresh of Devnagar in Utnoor madnal also succumbed to sunstroke.

Sunstroke deaths also took place in Jagtial and Karimnagar districts in the last four days.

Dehydratio­n is a common complaint; the hot temperatur­es coupled with heat waves have forced the people to confine themselves indoors.
