IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday said that national politics and the formation of the “federal front” proposed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would be discussed at the TRS plenary meeting to be held on April 27.

He said that nine resolutions, including one on national politics, would be passed on the occasion. “Our party chief wants to bring about a qualitative change in Indian politics by setting up an alternative front at the national level. Both the national parties, the BJP and the Congress, have failed to satisfy even the basic needs of people in 70 years. The issue will be discussed at the plenary meeting, and it will be decided how the alternative front should be set up,” Mr Rama Rao said.

He said that the meeting was especially important in light of the imminent disbursement of financial assistance of `8,000 per acre to farmers by the TRS government. “The importance of the scheme, which is being implemented for the first time in the country, and its impact on farmers and the agriculture sector, will be discussed at the plenary meeting. It was on the same occasion last year that the scheme was announced by our party chief. We are spending `12,000 crore on its implementation,” he said.

Mr Rama Rao visited the meeting venue in Kompally, on the outskirts of the city, to review arrangements for the event. The oneday plenary session is expected to be attended by 13,000 delegates from all the Assembly constituencies of the state.

The party will use the opportunity to highlight the welfare schemes and development programmes implemented by the TRS government over the past four years.
