TRS WON’T WORK TO DETHRONE MODI: HARISH

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, APRIL 23

Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao said on Monday that the TRS will not work to dethrone Narendra Modi or enthrone Rahul Gandhi, but only work to protect the interests of Telangana.

Mr Harish Rao condemned Mr Gandhi’s reported comments that the TRS was moving closer to the BJP.

He accused the Congress of resorting to ‘blackmail politics’ by taking up false propaganda that parties which are not coming forward to have election tie-ups with the Congress, are the BJP-friendly parties.

Speaking to reporters at Sangareddy, he said, “For TRS, the interests of TS and Telangana people are of utmost importance. We don’t work to dethrone Modi from power or help Rahul Gandhi to come to power.”

Mr Harish Rao questioned Congress leaders why they were not talking about the injustice to Telangana due to nonimplementation of provisions incorporated under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

“Telangana was entitled to special incentives for industrial and IT sectors as per the AP Reorganisation Act. We are also entitled to various tax exemptions. Nothing has materialised so far. But no Congress leader talks about all this,” Mr Harish Rao said.

He said the government has made all the arrangements for the smooth distribution of cheques to nearly 60 lakh farmers at the rate of `4,000 per acre for Kharif this year from May 10.
