Defectors donated more than others
Leaders, who have joined the TRS recently from other parties, donated huge sums of money to the party’s coffers during the plenary session held on Friday.
Nagarkurnool TRS MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy donated `1 crore. He was earlier with the TDP. Interestingly, Mahabubnagar TRS MP A.Jithender Reddy's sons Nitin Reddy and Ravinder Reddy have also donated `1 crore each raising speculations of his political entry into TRS soon.
Medchal TRS MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy donated `1 crore. Nalgonda Congress MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, who defected to TRS and became the chairman of Telangana State Farmers' Coordination Council, recently donated Rs 50 lakhs.
TDP former MP Gundu Sudharani, who shifted to the TRS, donated `25 lakh. TRS MLC and Whip in the Legislative Council Palla Rajeshwar Reddy donated `25 lakhs.
Most of the TRS leaders, who are with the party since its inception, donated lesser when compared to the defected leaders. The TRS leaders donated between `25 lakhs to `50 lakhs.
Thanking the party leaders and party supporters for making good donations to the party, party chief and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said: "The party already has a balance of Rs 20.41 crores. With fresh donations, the overall cash reserves of the party has increased to Rs 42.08 crores. We will seek donations from the people during October/November when the party will organise a huge public meeting before the 2019 polls."
