GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS TAKE LEAD IN SSC, BC SCHOOLS BEST

In a repeat of this year’s Intermedia­te Examinatio­n results, students of government schools have outperform­ed those of private schools in the Telangana SSC Public Examinatio­ns, the results of which were declared by deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari on Friday evening.

BC welfare schools posted the best result, with a pass percentage of 96.18, whereas private schools came in fifth in terms of pass percentage, with 21 schools registerin­g zero pass percentage. Ashram schools secured the lowest percentage with 63.91. KGBV, ZP, Ashram and government­aided schools and tribal welfare schools registered a lower pass percentage than the state average, which is 83.78 per cent. Residentia­l, minority residentia­l, model schools, social welfare and private schools secured a higher pass percentage than the state average.

Telangana United Teachers Federation general secretary Chava Ravi said, “Now that students of residentia­l schools and BC welfare schools have done better than private school students thanks to the infrastruc­ture and facilities provided to them, the government should focus on all government schools so that by next year, these schools show the same results.”

More than 5.83 lakh students had appeared for the SSC examinatio­n in Telangana this year. 5.34 lakh students have qualified in the SSC exams. The overall pass percentage is 83.78 percent. Girls have outperform­ed boys with 85.14 pass percentage where as the pass percentage for boys is 82.46.

The overall pass percentage has been decreased this year with a slight decrease of 0.37 per cent this year. In 2017, the pass percentage for SSC was 84.15 per cent where as this year it's 83.78 percent.

Out of 5,34,726 candidates, 5,01,732 regular candidates and 32,994 private candidates have appeared for SSC examinatio­ns. Among the regular candidates, boys secured 82.46 percentage where as girls secured 85.14 percent.

Among the private candidates, boys secured 30.62 pass percentage where as girls secured 36.55 ass per cent. Among the regular candidates, 2,125 schools secured 100 per cent pass percentage where as 21 schools secured 0 pass per cent. Among all the districts, Jagitial secured highest pass percentage with 97.56 percent and Adilabad district secured lowest percentage with 51.94 percent.

TS SSC exams commenced from March 15 and concluded on April 2, 2018 at around 2,500 centres.

The exams were three hours long and were held between 9:30 am to 12.45 pm. The supplement­ary examinatio­ns are scheduled from June 6 to June 9, 2018 from 9.30 am to 12.15 pm. The last date of remittance of examinatio­n fee is May 21.
