Union minister inaugurates four major projects in the city
Union minister for transport, roads and highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday cleared long pending projects, which the Telangana government has been representing for three years.
He approved infrastructure projects worth over `55,000 crore.
Mr Gadkari, while inaugurating four major projects in the city has assured to sanction `5,500 crore constructing regional ring road (RRR) around Hyderabad, `750 crore as Central Road Fund (CRF) and assured to grant `2,000 crore for inland water ways projects on Godavari river.
Besides this, the Union minister also said that the Centre would construct two reservoirs on Godavari river with `50,000 crore and will chalk out plans use 800 TMC back water from Polavaram project for drinking water and irrigation needs of the state.

Speaking after the inauguration, Mr Gadkari claimed that his government will never mix politics with development. He said he had received a negative report on the Amberpet flyover, however, BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy made herculean effort to get the project sanctioned.
Commenting on the inland waterways on the Godavari, Mr Gadkari said that the Centre would sanction `2,000 crore at the beginning of the project. He it was his dream project. Once the inland waterway from Bhadrachalam to Nasik (1184 km) and Wazirabad to Galagali (628 km) was completed, the economy of Telangana and AP would be transformed completely. He said the water resources department has already conducted a feasibility study and instructed officials to prepare DPR at the earliest.
