The accused, Berla Nagaraju, 45, along with a police home guard, who abetted the crime, were arrested by the police on Saturday.

The big break in the case was an earring worn by the accused Nagaraju, which helped the victim identify him during investigation.

As it was a medicolegal case, the police after taking her complaint sent her to the OGH for treatment. She was sent alone to the hospital without any relative or female constable to escort her.
