Blooper game: Tripura CM Biplab does it again
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has added another blooper to the list of his gaffes. In a video being circulated on social media, the 46year-old Chief Minister is seen telling his audience that “Rabindranath Tagore returned his Nobel Prize in protest against the British.”
Mr Deb made these remarks at a function in Udaipur to mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
Rabindranath Tagore did receive the Nobel Prize for poetry in 1913. He, however, had rejected Knighthood in protest against the Jalianwalla Bagh massacre in 1919. Modi Ram, Shah Laxman Controversial BJP MLA Surendra Singh termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi a reincarnation of Lord Ram who along with party president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will realise the dream of Ram Rajya in the country. He also said that he feels the gods had sent Amit Shah as Lord Ram’s brother Laxman and as Chanakya. Nehru, Patel were hanged: Javadekar Union Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadekar has come under fire for saying that Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel were hanged by the British. Javadekar has been severely criticised for getting history wrong as Sardar Patel died in 1950 while Nehru died in 1964. Jinnah, a ‘mahapurush’ Amid a row over Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait at the AMU, local BJP MP Savitri Bai Phule, has termed the founder of Pakistan a ‘mahapurush’ (great personality), causing embarrassment to her party. She alleged that the Jinnah controversy was being raked up to divert attention from the real issues such as ensuring equal rights to the Dalits.
