Sleepless nights for residents

Residents in several city areas that infrastruc­ture agencies are working at night, creating inconvenie­nce. The agencies are blocking roads from 1 am to 5 am without notice in residentia­l areas.

Mr Nakul Sabarwal of Tarnaka, said the loud noise made by the equipment at Street No 1 in Tarnaka over two days was giving them sleepless nights.

The agency says it will install CCTV cameras in one day has been digging roads for two days from 1 am to 4 am.

Echoing his concern, East Marredpall­y resident Sanjay Mathew questioned the need to install the CCTV cameras a week before the monsoon. He said going by past experience, the agencies do not repair the roads, which result in minor accidents.

Prashasann­agar resident Askari said Water Board officials had started road cutting two months ago and the work was going on.

The condition of roads had deteriorat­ed after the rain earlier this month, and they had not been repaired. “The loud noise made by the workers in the residentia­l area is causing additional trouble.”

Residents claimed when the issue was taken to the notice of police, they said that the works have been carried out in the public interest and could not be done in the morning due to the pressure of traffic.
