Uttam says free power too was said impossible

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, MAY 30

Reacting to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s calling it a gimmick, TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress would stand by its promise of waiving of loans worth `2 lakh of each farmer after coming to power.

He said that the Congress in the past had promised free power to the agricultural sector and had implemented the measure. He said the Congress would waive the farmers’ loans under any circumstances.

Mr Rao had said that the Congress’ promise to waive the loans was a gimmick and the party would not be able to implement it if it formed government.

Mr Reddy said that by the time the Congress comes to power in 2019, the state Budget would reach `1.90 lakh crore and waving of `2 lakh farm loan would not be a problem.

Mr Rao had no habit of implementing promises given to the people and thought the Congress would behave similarly,
