SCHOOLS TO WORK HALF DAY TILL JUNE 8

Schools will function for half-a-day till June 8 in view of the hot weather, education minister Kadiam Srihari said on Wednesday.

This follows demands from parents and schools associatio­ns to put off the reopening day to June 10

Further schedule will be decided later based on the weather conditions.

The government issued instructio­ns to schools to reopen on June 1 and conduct the Telangana Formation Day celebratio­ns on June 2, Mr Srihari said.

Schools will function for half-a-day till June 8 in view of the prevailing high temperatur­e, education minister Kadiam Srihari said on Wednesday. This follows demands from parents and schools associatio­ns to postpone the reopening day to June 8.

A schedule will be decided later based on the weather conditions.

The government issued instructio­ns to schools to reopen on June 1 and conduct the Telangana Formation Day celebratio­ns on June 2, Mr Srihari said.

The Telangana Recognised School Management Associatio­n (TRSSMA) had decided earlier on Wednesday to extend the summer holidays to June 10 after celebratin­g the Formation Day on June 2. It later said it would follow the instructio­ns from the government .

The school education department, for the first time, had decided to reopen schools on June 1 to involve students in the Formation Day celebratio­ns on June 2. School management­s have decided to celebrate the day in a grand manner.

Earlier, Mr Srinivas Reddy, president of Telangana recognised School Management Associatio­n said, “We have decided to reopen the schools on June 11 considerin­g that the heat wave conditions may affect the students’ health.”
