SEVERAL CIVIC ISSUES, BUT FEW SOLUTIONS

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board has finally met after more than three months on Thursday but had few solutions to a range of problems. These included civic issues including water shortage, improvement of sewerage system at Tirumulgherry lake, completion of the Dr B.R Ambedkar Community Hall.

Board president Brig. M.D. Upadhyay, chief executive officer S.V.R. Chandrasekhar, MP Ch. Malla Reddy, legislator G. Sayanna, vice-president J. Ramakrishna were present along with other board members both elected and nominated.

Elected SCB member B. Anitha of Ward 3 stated, “The proposal to resolve water problem in the our ward was approved by the board. We wanted water supply to meet the growing demand as the population is increasing. Our residents hardly receive water once a week.”

Brig. Upadhyay said, “We will verify the issue in the area and forward your concerns to the competent authority. We well resolve the problem within 4 to 5 days.”

Mr J. Maheswar Reddy, elected member of ward 2, raised the point of collaborating with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, as the cantonment was flanked by the GHMC on both side. He said, “In collaboration with the HMDA, we can plan laying underground drainages and cement concrete roads.” He requested an enhanced budget of `8 crore. Brig. Upadhyay responded.

Regarding the Tirumulgherry lake, Mr Ramakrishna requested the improvement and diversion of the sewerage system.
