CASE THOUGHT TO BE A SUICIDE, IS A MURDER

-

A reinvestigation into an alleged suicide of a daily wage earner at Nalgonda district revealed that the man was murdered. The police arrested his wife and her lover for the murder.

According to Nalgonda One Town inspector P.N.D. Prasad, one Muluguri Venkateshwarlu, 45, died under suspicious circumstances at his house on August 1 last. “His wife Madhavi lodged a complaint with the police stating that he had committed suicide by hanging when she was away at her native place.”

Based on the statement, the police registered a case of suspicious death, sent the body for postmortem and handed over the body to the family.

The post-mortem report was received last month, and it pointed to homicide. The case was reopened after police got information that Madhavi along with another person had killed Venkateshwarlu.

“Based on the leads, we collected the call data records of Madhavi and found that she was much present in the house on the day Venkateshwarlu,” the inspector said.

On questioning, Madhavi confessed to strangling her husband with her lover Nimalla Venkanna of Shettipallem Vemulapally. They hanged the body to make it appear like a suicide, and went away on Venkanna’s motorycle.

The police recovered the articles used in killing Venkateshwarlu. The case was altered to IPC Section 302 (murder), and Venkanna and Madhavi were arrested.
