Id-ul-Fitr will be cel­e­brated across Te­lan­gana state and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, as the cres­cent moon was not sighted on Thursday. The fes­ti­val is cel­e­brated on the first of the Is­lamic month of Shawwal.

The an­nounce­ment was made by prom­i­nent Is­lamic schol­ars un­der the aegis of the Cen­tral Ruiyat-e-Hi­lal Com­mit­tee of Hy­der­abad Dec­can, which met at the Hus­saini Build­ing at Moaz­zam Jahi Mar­ket on Thursday evening.

The com­mit­tee made the an­nounce­ment af­ter get­ting con­fir­ma­tion that the moon was not sighted any­where in the Tel­ugu states and in the neigh­bour­ing states as well.

Id-ul-Fitr will be cel­e­brated across Te­lan­gana state and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, as the cres­cent moon was not sighted on Thursday.

The faith­ful will ob­serve the 30th Roza on Friday, which will also be the Ju­matul Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan.

The com­mit­tee meet­ing was at­tended by Ma­jlis-eUlema-e-Dec­can sec­re­tary-gen­eral and Mus­lim Per­sonal Law Board mem­ber Moulana Syed Qubul Pasha Shut­tari, Jamia Niza­mia Vice-Chan­cel­lor Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Darul If­tar head Maulana Mufti Azeemud­din and Moulana Syed Kazim Pasha Quadri among oth­ers.

The peo­ple es­pe­cially the busi­ness com­mu­nity were anx­iously wait­ing for the an­nounce­ment of the sight­ing of the moon. Many felt ex­cited af­ter hear­ing that Id-ul-Fitr would be cel­e­brated on Saturday. The mar­kets are re­ported brisk busi­ness with busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments run­ning round the clock for the last few days.
