Mom sets self, son ablaze

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman committed suicide by dousing herself and her son with kerosene and setting them both on fire in Gadwal on Wednesday night. According to the police, Sheikh Haseena and her husband married 10 years ago and have a seven-year-old son Mohammed. “On Wednesday night, Haseena fought with her mother-inlaw over some financial issue and in a fit of rage, poured kerosene on herself and her son and set themselves on fire,” police said, adding that villagers then shifted them to Kurnool government hospital, where they were pronounced dead. According to Daroor police, dowry harassment and domestic abuse have been ruled out and the action is said to be impulsive.
