SEP­A­RATISTS’ THUMBS UP TO RIGHTS RE­PORT

Kash­miri sep­a­ratists have wel­comed the United Na­tions first ever hu­man rights re­port on Kash­mir say­ing it was long over­due and that the UN has a moral obli­ga­tion to­wards the peo­ple of the state di­vided be­tween In­dia and Pak­istan. They also termed as “un­for­tu­nate” the re­jec­tion of the re­port by the In­dian gov­ern­ment.

Sep­a­ratist leader and Kash­mir’s chief Mus­lim cleric Mir­waiz Umar Fa­rooq said, “We wel­come it al­though we do feel that the UN should have long ago.”

In­de­pen­dent MLA and leader of re­gional Awami Ite­had Party En­gi­neer Rashid while wel­com­ing the re­port asked asked all the par­ties con­cerned to in­tro­spect and up­hold the hu­man rights of peo­ple of J&K.
