Direct witnesses to Kennedy murder

-

LOS ANGELES, June 14. Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, a 24-year-old Jordanian charged with murdering Senator Robert Kennedy, will be confronted with at least two direct witnesses of the shooting when the case comes to trial after June 28.

The text of the transcript of the secret indictment hearing held here last Friday released today carried statements by two waiters at the Ambassador Hotel who alleged they saw Sirhan shoot Mr. Kennedy.

One of them, Vincent Di Pierro, a student and part-time waiter, confirmed the presence at the scene of the crime of a girl in a polka dot dress for whom police have been searching.

The other witness, Head Waiter Karl Uecker, said he grabbed and tried to wrestle with him after the first shot rang out.

Di Pierro said his attention was attracted towards Sirhan because the girl beside him was very good looking. She had dark hair, cut just above the shoulders.

Her dress had either black or dark purple polka dots on it.

The next time he looked at Sirhan he was holding a gun, Di Pierro added. “He kind of moved around Mr. Uecker. Nobody could move. You were just frozen. You did not know what to do.” Both Sirhan and the girl were smiling when Senator Kennedy fell back on being struck by the first shot, Di Pierro said.
