KCR seeks `20k-cr for Kaleshwara­m

CM meets Modi, discusses zonal system

THE CM ALSO requested Prime Minister to hand over Bison Polo Grounds in Secunderab­ad to build the new Secretaria­t, and to set up IIM and IIIT.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday and handed him over a wish list of 10 issues including provision of a grant of `20,000 crore for the Kaleshwara­m project

During their hour-long meeting, the Chief Minister also sought amendment to the Presidenti­al Order to allow the new zonal system to be implemente­d, bifurcatio­n of the High Court, completion of pending railway projects.

Mr Rao also asked for handing over Bison Polo Ground in Secunderab­ad to build the new Secretaria­t, setting up an IIM, providing funds for the Hyderabad IT Investment Region, setting up IIIT in Karimnagar and opening Navodaya schools in all new district headquarte­rs. Mr Rao claimed that the Prime Minister responded positively to all the issues.

On Kaleshwara­m, the CM stated in the representa­tion submitted to the Prime Minister, “The project will cost an estimated `80,000 crore. For completion of this project, in addition to `25,000 crore budgetary provision, we procured a loan from financial institutio­ns of `22,000 crore. We still need funds. I requested the PM to extend financial help of `20,000 crore.”

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday. During the one-hour meeting, the Chief Minister submitted a long wish list to Mr Modi.

On the new zonal system, he said, “Against the backdrop of formation of the new state with 31 districts, there is a need to issue a fresh Presidenti­al Order adjusting zones, multi-zones and state cadre etc., under section 371-D of the Constituti­on. I request that suitable direction may kindly be issued to the ministry of home affairs to amend the Presidenti­al Order early.”

On the High Court issue Mr Rao said, “After six decades of struggle, a new state of Telangana has been formed. However, this dream remains unfulfille­d as Telangana State does not have its own separate High Court. I take this opportunit­y to request you to ensure that a separate High Court for Telangana is establishe­d at the earliest.”

REFERRING TO ITIR project, KCR said, “The state government had submitted DPR delineatin­g land parcels to be covered under ITIR and identifyin­g trunk infrastruc­ture projects related to the land parcels. I request Centre to provide adequate funds to the state to develop ITIR”.

On railway projects, the CM submitted: “Railway network in TS is below the national average. The land acquisitio­n for Manoharaba­d-Kottapalli project is taken up. Akkannapet-Medak line land acquisitio­n is almost complete. The Bhadrachal­am-Sattupalli railway project should be expedited. The Kazipet-Vijayawada third line of electrific­ation, Raghavapur­am-Mandamarri patch tripling, Armoor-NirmalAdil­abad new broad-gauge line should be expedited. Doubling of track in Secunderab­ad-Mahbubnaga­r, Secunderab­adZaheerab­ad, laying of new railway line connecting Kazipet and Karimnagar be completed early”.

On Bison Polo Grounds, the CM said, “TS government has requested the Ministry of Defence for transfer of defence lands (Bison Polo and Gymkhana grounds) in Secunderab­ad for constructi­on of new Secretaria­t building, Strategic Road Developmen­t Projects (NH 44 and SH 1) and also transfer of 7.58 acres defence land for constructi­on of six lane alternativ­e road proposed in lieu of Gough Road. Ministry of Defence has conveyed in principle approval for transfer of the defence lands subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions for which the state government has agreed. I request you to kindly instruct the Ministry of Defence to expedite the proposal of transfer of defence lands to enable the TS government to take up constructi­on of new Secretaria­t building and also widen and improve roads passing through Cantonment Areas.”
