Twins murder planned for over two months

-

The sinister plot to kill the two mentally challenged twins, 12-yearold Srujanan Reddy and Vishnuvardhan Reddy, was planned two months ago by their uncle Mallikarjun Reddy, police said on Sunday.

He was arrested by the Chaitanyapuri police along with his driver Vivek Reddy and friend Venkat Reddy on Sunday. Police said Mallikarjun Reddy was planning to take the bodies of the children back to the parents when he was stopped by his landlord on Saturday.

According to ACP, LB Nagar, K. Pruthvidhar Rao, Mallikarjun hatched the plot to murder the children two months ago because he was frustrated at taking care of them.

“The children stayed in a special home for a short span of time. Most of the time the family could not afford the expensive care which was estimated to be around `80,000. When Srujanan and Vishnuvardhan were not in care homes, they often stayed with Mallikarjun as their mother Lakshmi Reddy was not well and father Srinivas Reddy was busy,” Mr Rao said.

Mr Rao said it was likely that Mallikarjun was also disturbed by his divorce. Mallikarjun a chemical engineer, was unemployed.

Mallikarjun smothered the twins with a pillow on Friday night at his residence in Chaitanyapuri. After killing the twins, he called their parents and told them of the murder, The ACP said Mallikarjun was planning to take the bodies to Miryalguda and hand it over to the parents, when he was caught.

Police said Mallikarjun went to his sister’s home in Miryalguda, and said he wanted to take Srujanan and Vishnuvardhan for swimming. He took the twins to his residence at Chaitanyapuri and killed them. Their The parents and neighbours said Mallikarjun was very attached to the twins and could not understand why he killed them.

Police said the three men will be produced before the court. The bodies of the children were handed over to the family after postmortem. A lorry cleaner committed suicide by hanging from his lorry on Sunday in Sangareddy.

Police said that locals found the body hanging by the vehicle and alerted the cops.

The deceased was identified as Vinod, a lorry cleaner from Patancheru, police said.

“Locals noticed his dead body hanging by the lorry on Sunday morning. The motive behind the suicide is not yet known and we have booked a suspicious death case,” police said.
