Furore over ‘missionary’ at Deekshitulu presser
Hindu Dharma Raksha Samiti district chief calls former TTD head priest ‘pastor Deekshitulu’
The presence of a member of a Christian charity organisation at a press conference held by TTD former chief priest Dr A.V. Ramana Deekshitulu on Wednesday raised a furore, with allegations of a political conspiracy along with the YSR Congress to defame the government.
As Dr Deekshitulu was addressing the media, one B. Anil, said to be an organiser of a Christian charity organisation, was seen standing behind him at the Press Club at Somajiguda.
Asked about the presence of Anil, Dr Deekshitulu said many devotees had come with him and had promised to move court on the TTD issue. “I don’t know who Anil is,” he said.
The presence of Christian missionaries at Tirumala has for long been a controversial issue. As such, the presence of Anil completely took the focus away from what Dr Deekshitulu had to say about the defamation notice. TD Brahmana Chaitanya Vedika alleged that Dr Deekshitulu was colluding with Christian missionaries and the YSRC to defame the AP government.
Hindu Dharma Raksha Samiti district president D. Srinivas called the former TTD head priest “pastor /father Deekshitulu” for his alleged conspiracy with Christian leaders against the TTD. Vedika state coconvener Siripurapu Sridhar alleged that Dr Deekshitulu had violated the norms of Hindu religion by colluding with Christian missionaries.
